In response to the excessive pruning of trees in Watertown last year, Rep. Hecht worked closely with the utility companies, municpalities and the Tree Wardens Association to pass a bill that would address this problem. The bill establishes new requirements that utilities need to follow in order to get a comprehensive permit from the town to prune or cut down shade trees. On January 13, 2011, Governor Patrick signed this bill into law and can now be found in Chapter 449 of the Acts of 2010.
