On September 28, Rep. Hecht joined DCR Commissioner Ed Lambert, Senator Steven Tolman, Rep. John Lawn and members of the community to celebrate the completion of Phase 1 of the Watertown Greenway. This is the first phase of a DCR initiative to construct regional connections from DCR's Charles River trail to the Minuteman Bikeway, the Alewife Greenway, and DCR's Mystic River Reservation. The completed path will provide an alternative commuter route for urban centers, such as Arlington, Cambridge, and Boston.
